Radamel Falcao has taken a while to find his feet at Manchester United, but he is now showing why Louis van Gaal splashed out £6million last September to sign the Colombian on loan from Monaco.
The 28-year-old was initially in and out of the United side as he struggled to get to grips with the English game and did not score his first Premier League goal until October – the winner in a 2-1 home victory over Everton in October.
However, restored to the United starting line-up at Aston Villa in December for the first time since that Everton game, Falcao repaid Van Gaal’s faith with a brilliant second-half header to rescue a point.
The Colombian international was United’s saviour again on New Year’s Day, when he grabbed an equaliser in the 1-1 draw at Stoke.
Falcao then improved his tally to four goals from 16 appearances this season when he netted United’s second goal last weekend in their 3-1 home victory over bottom club Leicester.
That win was United’s second in succession and they will be favoured to complete a hat-trick against a West Ham side who were a disappointment in their 2-0 loss at Liverpool last weekend.
Deprived of key striker Diafra Sakho because of a dispute with the Senegal FA, who complained to FIFA when he withdrew from the African Cup of Nations and then turned out for West Ham in the FA Cup, the London club were devoid of attacking ideas.
Hammers boss Sam Allardyce has been landed with further problems after that Anfield defeat, with centre-backs James Collins and Winston Reid and striker Andy Carroll all injured.
In contrast, United played with more fluency against Leicester, especially in the first half, and they have not lost to West Ham since November 2010.
Van Gaal’s side will therefore fancy their chances of completing the double over the Hammers, following their 2-1 home win at Old Trafford in September, and Falcao is in the mood to help them.
Enhanced price therefore maximum stake of £25 per user.
