No big surprises occurred in Wednesday’s Dutch Cup action as smaller teams were easily defeated by their bigger counterparts.

PSV Eindhoven advanced to the next round with a 2-1 win over De Graafschap. Danny Koevermans, who scored two goals against Feyenoord on the weekend, again hit the target after 25 minutes in Wednesday’s game. Hugo Bargas leveled four minutes after the break but Ibrahim Afellay needed only five minutes to reply and make it 2-1.

In-form FC Utrecht weren’t quite as convincing in the Cup tournament, losing 2-4 to FC Groningen. Both Nicklas Pedersen and Tim Matavz scored twice for the guests, and only Erixon Danso and Ricky van Wolfswinkel managed to do something in return.

NAC Breda earned a 2-3 victory at Willem II in a regional derby. The hosts took a 2-0 lead with goals from Frank Demouge and Christophe Gregoire (penalty), but two goals from Leonardo and a penalty goal from Matthew Owen turned things around in NAC’s favor. All of the away side’s goals were scored in the last 20 minutes of the game.
