Birmingham City have reportedly agreed a six-million-pound deal to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Robbie Keane.
The initial transfer is understood to be worth four million pounds, but could rise by a further two million through add-ons and clauses.
Republic of Ireland striker Keane is yet to discuss personal terms with City.
The 30-year-old has scored 91 goals in 237 appearances over two spells with Spurs.
Birmingham boss Alex McLeish, a well-known admirer of Keane, is desperate to acquire a proven finisher after City struggled to find the net in the first half of the season.
Close-season acquisition Nikola Zigic has managed just two goals in 18 appearances, while midfielder Craig Gardner is the team’s unlikely leading marksman with five.
If the transfer goes ahead, Keane will be the second surplus Tottenham player to arrive at St Andrews after right midfielder David Bentley joined on loan.
McLeish is also continuing to battle Serie A side Fiorentina for the signature of Rangers’ frontman Kenny Miller.
