Birmingham City are interested in signing Middlesbrough stalwart Stewart Downing, according to the Mirror.
The former England international has been told he can leave Boro, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, by new manager Garry Monk.
Birmingham boss Harry Redknapp in keen to continue strengthening his squad as he looks to turn the Blues into genuine promotion contenders having themselves narrowly avoided relegation last term.
Having began his career with Middlesbrough, Downing returned to the Riverside Stadium in the summer of 2015 and since made eighty-three appearances, scoring five goals while in his first spell with the club he played two hundred and thirty-four times, netting on twenty-two occasions.
In between those two spells with Boro he played for Aston Villa, Liverpool and West Ham United.
Internationally, he represented England thirty-five times with his last appearance coming in a 3-1 friendly victory over Scotland in November 2014.
