Birmingham join chase for Spurs ace

Birmingham have reportedly joined the chase for Tottenham winger David Bentley.

The People reports that the Blues are ready to outbid Liverpool in the chase for the former Blackburn Rovers star.

Bentley joined Spurs in a £15million deal from Blackburn in 2008, but the club accept that they will be forced to take a hit in order to offload the 26-year-old in the January transfer window.

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is keen to strengthen his squad in January, but will be unable to go higher than £6million for the winger.

Birmingham boss Alex McLeish is reportedly lining up a bid of about £8million for the winger.
