Football League Championship side Birmingham City have completed the signing of Brek Shea on a three-month emergency loan.
The USA international, 24, has moved to St. Andrew’s from Stoke City, with the player’s parent club having no recall option.
Shea, who has been assigned the No. 13 shirt, is already in contention to feature against Leeds United at the weekend.
“I’ve been chasing Brek for a while and actually wanted to sign him permanently at the start of the season,” Clark told the Club’s official website.
“He impressed me when he played for Barnsley here at St. Andrew’s on New Year’s Day and, given our recent injuries, it made sense to make this loan move, importantly with no recall clause being something that I have stressed all along.”
Shea was deemed surplus to requirements at the Britannia Stadium following the summer arrivals of Bojan Krkić, Oussama Assaidi (on loan from Liverpool), and Victor Moses (on loan from Chelsea). And rightly so.
Pilkington: No regrets for Norwich exit
Republic of Ireland international midfielder Anthony Pilkington has no regrets over his decision to leave Norwich for Cardiff in the summer.
Between 2011 and 2014, Pilkington, 26, scored 14 goals in 75 first-team appearances for Norwich City, but, following the Canaries’ relegation to the Championship, the player determined he was ready for a new challenge.
On Saturday, the 26-year-old midfielder will face his former club when Cardiff host Norwich at the Cardiff City Stadium.
“I think the time had come for me to go really,” Pilkington told the Norwich Evening News. “It wasn’t time for me to stay there anymore. I have got a fresh start now at Cardiff City so hopefully I can take that chance and show everyone what I can do.
“I don’t have any regrets. I don’t like to look back. I would rather look to the future and Cardiff City.
“I had one or two injuries at Norwich that held me back, particularly over the Christmas period, but hopefully I can stay fit. There is a bright future here.
“The manager has brought in some good talent and we need to get that on the pitch. It is good to get back playing competitive football, although there are loads of strikers and midfielders here so the competition is strong, but you need that if you are a club who want to be challenging to get back into the Premier League.”
There is certainly no looking back now, but did Pilkington make the right decision to leave Norfolk for the Welsh capital? Only time will tell.
