Bitesize Prediction: Aberdeen vs Dundee United – 26/10/24

Competition: Scottish Premiership

Market: Aberdeen win

Odds: 7/10 @ BetUS

Looking to extend on their remarkable Premiership flurry this weekend, Aberdeen will welcome Dundee United to Pittodrie on Saturday evening.

Starting with the hosts, while Aberdeen might have limped their way to a bottom-half finish last season, the Dons have only continued on an astonishing rise since opening up the campaign. Really firing on all cylinders under the guidance of new boss Jimmy Thelin, the former Elfsborg manager should find the mood in his camp at a red-hot high. Marking their return from October’s international break with an action-packed 2-2 stalemate away at defending champions Celtic, the Reds find themselves at the heart of a title scrap. In fact, already registering 22 points from their first eight Premiership appearances, it is only their goal difference that keeps them from climbing to the top of the table. Heading into October’s international break with a 3-2 victory against Hearts, Aberdeen have really impressed with their clinical performances in the final third. Extending on their League Cup adventure last month thanks to a 4-0 romp against Spartans, Saturday’s hosts have now notched 13 goals in just their last five matchups across all formats.

As for the visitors, while Dundee United might have only made their Premiership return this season, Jim Goodwin’s men have already underlined their spot as Scotland’s ultimate surprise package. Battling it out in the top-four chase, the Terrors have lost just one of their opening eight top-flight appearances and they have also collected seven points from their previous three Premiership showdowns. However, despite enjoying what has been a real purple patch in the final third, Saturday’s guests should face a real challenge when they travel to Pittodrie this weekend. Hit with a 3-1 drumming when they welcomed Aberdeen to Tannadice Park for their most recent battle in March 2023, they have also lost back-to-back meetings against the European chasers. It should also be noted, Dundee United have recorded just a single victory from any of their last eight straight trips to Aberdeen across all competitions – a run that stems all the way back to August 2014.
