Competition: FA Cup
Market: Both teams to score
Odds: 2/3 @ BetUS
Two sides who will be desperate to punch their full FA Cup ticket on Saturday afternoon, AFC Fylde will welcome Rochdale to Mill Farm.
Starting with the hosts, managing to make a much-welcomed return to winning ways last weekend as they secured an action-packed 5-2 victory against Aldershot, AFC Fylde will be looking to use that performance as a platform to build on. However, although the Wesham-based outfit might have eventually clung to their National League status last season, the Coasters have another real battle on their hands this time around. Signing off September with a 2-1 defeat at home against Tamworth, they have struggled to find any kind of stability since opening up the new campaign. Despite getting proceedings underway with a 3-2 victory against Solihull Moors on August 10th, that is just one of three wins that AFC Fylde have registered from any of their opening 13 National League appearances. Suffering consecutive 3-0 drumming against York City and Forest Green last month, it should also be highlighted that Saturday’s hosts have recorded just a sole clean sheet against fifth-tier opposition.
As for the visitors, while Rochdale might have fallen short last season in the race to claim a play-off ticket, Jimmy McNulty’s side are pencilled in as a leading top-six contender this time around. Although the Manchester-based outfit might have been forced to settle for an action-packed 2-2 stalemate against Ebbsfleet last week, Saturday’s guests have collected seven points from just their previous three National League appearances. Making a real statement last month as they stormed their way to a 3-0 romp away at Hartlepool, Rochdale have lost just a pair of their last 10 outings – a run that stems all the way back to August 20th. Although McNulty’s side might have registered just two clean sheets over the past month, the Dale have impressed with their performances in the final third. Notching 22 National League goals in their 13 appearances so far this season, that is the fourth-best attacking return among England’s fifth-tier.
