Hoping to extend their stay in the play-off places, AFC Wimbledon will welcome Gillingham to Plough Lane on Monday night.

Starting with the hosts, although AFC Wimbledon might have sprung a real upset this season as they find themselves sat in pole position to punch a play-off ticket, the Dons are seeking some recent stability. Missing out on what they had billed as a golden opportunity last time out as they eventually had to settle for a 1-1 stalemate at home against Swindon, Johnnie Jackson’s camp have won just a pair of their previous seven appearances across all competitions. With that run stemming back to a 2-0 win against Tranmere on November 26th, the former Charlton boss will also have a real headache over his side’s extended issues on home soil. Despite claiming a gritty 1-0 victory against Doncaster earlier in the month, that is the only win that AFC Wimbledon have collected from any of their last eight consecutive showdowns at Plough Lane. It should also be noted, Monday’s hosts have recorded more than a single strike in just one of their previous five battles in front of their own supporters.

As for the visitors, despite securing back-to-back 1-0 victories against MK Dons and Salford earlier in the month, Gillingham find themselves in a similar position to Monday’s hosts. Last seen putting in a toothless display as they slumped to a 2-0 loss away at Colchester, Mark Bonner’s side almost sit in League Two limbo as we inch towards 2025. Winning just a pair of their previous seven appearances across all competitions within 90 minuets, the Gills have also shown some extended issues on their travels. In fact, Gillingham have recorded just a single League Two victory on their travels since a 1-0 win against Notts County on September 21st. Facing a real uphill battle in the race to mount a genuine play-off charge, Monday’s guests should also be concerned by their most recent trip to Plough Lane. Falling to a 2-0 defeat when they last meet the Dons back in March, Bonner’s men are once again tipped as an underdog contender here.

Bet: Under 2.5 goals at AFC Wimbledon vs Gillingham 7/10 for Monday’s League Two battle @ 1xBet
