Bitesize Prediction: Al-Riyadh vs Damac – 28/12/23

Competition: Saudi Pro League

Market: Damac win

Odds: 4/5 @ BetUS

Looking to extend on their domestic romp in midweek, Damac will travel to the Prince Turki bin Abdul Aziz Stadium when they meet Al-Riyadh.

Starting with the hosts, while Al-Riyadh might have signed off November with a crucial 2-1 win away at Al-Taawon, it appears that might have just been a minor boost for Odair Hellmann’s men. Although they might have secured a Pro League return this season, the former Santos boss finds his squad in the midst of a major relegation scrap. Last seen putting in another worrying performance as they slumped to a 3-1 loss away at Al-Wehda, Thursday’s hosts have lost each of their previous three top-flight appearances. Opening December with a 4-1 drumming at the hands of Saudi Arabian giants Al-Nassr, Hellmann’s side have continued to show some rather glaring defensive issues. Shipping eight strikes on their three-match losing run, it should also be noted that Al-Riyadh have struggled to find any kind of stability on home soil. In fact, the Pro League relegation scrappers have recorded just one win at the Turki bin Abdul Aziz Stadium since back on August 13th.

As for the visitors, while Al-Riyadh might find themselves at the heart of a real struggle, Damac are enjoying a major Pro League romp. Last seen putting in another thumping display as they cruised their way to a 3-0 romp against Al-Taee, Cosmin Contra’s side should find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Skyrocketing their way up the top-flight standings, the Mushait-based outfit have won all of their previous five appearances on the bounce. With their recent purple patch underlined by a 3-1 victory against Al-ittihad on December 7th, the former Romania boss has also seen his squad continue to shine with their free-scoring performances in the final third. Bagging 15 strikes on their five-match winning run, Damac should be smelling a golden chance here. Likewise, without a single Pro League defeat to their name since back on October 21st, it should also be highlighted that Contra’s side have secured back-to-back away victories by an aggregate score of 5-2. Given the huge recent gulf in class, we are predicting an away victory on Thursday afternoon.
