Competition: National League
Market: Both teams to score
Odds: 4/7 @ BetUS
Hoping to find a route into the play-off places on Tuesday night, Altrincham will welcome Wealdstone to Moss Lane.
Starting with the hosts, while Altrincham might still have their sights firmly set on clinching a stunning play-off ticket this season, it is no secret that Phil Parkinson’s men are seeking some recent stability. Last seen over the weekend suffering a second-half collapse on home soil as they eventually fell to a lively 3-2 loss at the hands of Gateshead, the Robins have lost seven of their previous 10 National League appearances – a rut that stems back to February 10th. Despite making a real statement earlier in the month as they stormed their way to a 6-1 romp against York City, the Manchester-based outfit have shown some extended issues at the back. Opening March with a 3-1 drumming against Dagenham & Redbridge, Altrincham have registered just a single clean sheet from any of their last 10 outings. Likewise, not recording a clean sheet at Moss Lane since the start of February, Parkinson’s side have gained a reputation for their lively outcomes. It should be highlighted, Tuesday’s hosts have seen seven of their previous nine National League showdowns finish with both teams finding the net.
As for the visitors, although Wealdstone might have been disappointed over the weekend as they eventually had to settle for a 1-1 stalemate at home against Kidderminster, David Noble’s men are sat in the driving seat to extend on their National League status. Opening March with an action-packed 3-2 victory away at York City, the Middlesex-based outfit have lost just one of their previous five fifth-tier appearances. Finding a route out of the drop zone and with their recent charge for safety highlighted by a 2-1 win against AFC Fylde, the Royals should also be excited by their success on the road. Including snatching a 1-1 stalemate away at promotion contenders Barnet last month, Wealdstone have lost just one of their previous seven away fixtures across all competitions – a run that stems back to January 6th. Hoping to spring another upset here, neutrals could be treated to an enjoyable outcome on Tuesday night. With Wealdstone seeing five of their last six contests away from Grosvenor Vale finish with both teams finding the net, we are expecting a similar outcome in midweek.
