Competition: Brazil Serie B
Market: Amazonas win
Odds: 19/20 @ BetUS
Looking to widen their buffer over the drop zone, Amazonas will welcome Guarani to the Estadio Municipal Carlos Zamith in the early hours of Thursday.
Starting with the hosts, while Amazonas might have marked their Serie B return in the midst of a real struggle, the Jaguars do appear to have turned a recent corner. Putting in another eye-catching performance last week as they snatched a gritty 0-0 stalemate away at promotion contenders America MG, Rafael Lacerda’s camp are now looking to drag themselves away from a potential relegation scrap. Desperate to maintain their second-tier status this season, the Yellows have suffered just a single defeat from any of their previous six Serie B appearances – a flurry that extends back to June 14th. Gaining a reputation for their rugged approach under Lacerda’s guidance, Amazonas should be smelling a real opportunity in midweek. Recording consecutive Serie B clean sheets for the first time since making their second-tier return, the Manaus-based outfit should find the mood in their camp at a season-high.
As for the visitors, while some in Guarani’s camp might have opened up the 2024 campaign with their sights set on mounting a shock promotion charge, the Bugre are at the heart of a public struggle. Last seen over the weekend falling to an action-packed 3-2 defeat at home against Goias, Pentado’s men are desperately seeking some kind of Serie B boost. Battling it out in the relegation zone, Thursday’s guests have failed to muster a single victory from any of their previous 12 consecutive second-tier appearances. With that nightmare stemming all the way back to May 11th, the Greens have also continued to show some glaring issues at the back. Including another 3-2 loss at the hands of Avai last month, Guarani have conceded 27 goals so far this season. Sat rock-bottom of the Serie B standings and mustering just seven points from any of their 16 appearances so far, we are backing a home win here.
