Competition: Nations League

Market: Ireland win

Odds: 21/20 @ 888sport

Looking to open this year’s Nations League adventure with a flurry on foreign soil, Ireland will make the trip to a downbeat Armenia on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Armenia might have found themselves enjoying a much-needed boost 16 months ago, there is no doubt that the Mountaineers have really come crashing back down to earth. Last seen during March’s international break when putting in a nightmare display away at Norway, Head Coach Joaquín Caparrós knows that he has quite the job on his hands. Eventually getting hit with a dreadful 9-0 drumming when they made the trip to Oslo earlier in the year, they have now lost four of their last five matchups across all formats. Likewise, managing to muster just a single victory of any kind since March 2021, Armenia have also shown some rather glaring issues at the back. Including a shock 5-0 defeat at home against North Macedonia last year, it should be noted that Saturday’s hosts have conceded 19 goals in just their last four losses.

As for the visitors, while Ireland might have really failed to find any kind of immediate boost under Stephen Kenny early in his tenure, the Greens have really come roaring back. Last seen on March 29th when picking up a last-gasp 1-0 victory at home against Lithuania in a friendly contest, they are now in the midst of an eight-match unbeaten run. Likewise, managing to play out a 2-2 draw against European heavyweights Belgium earlier in the year, they have also picked up a pair of thumping wins on foreign soil. Last seen outside of Dublin landing back-to-back 3-0 wins away at Luxembourg and Azerbaijan, there is no doubt that Ireland should be smelling the chance to open their Nations League campaign with a flurry on Saturday afternoon. Winning each of their two previous meetings against Armenia, we’re backing a similar outcome here.

Bet: Ireland 21/20 to beat Armenia in Saturday’s Nations League battle @ 888sport
