Bitesize Prediction: Aston Villa vs Wolves – 21/09/24

Competition: Premier League

Market: Aston Villa win

Odds: 4/7 @ BetUS

With Midlands bragging rights up for grabs on Saturday afternoon, Aston Villa will welcome Wolves to Villa Park this weekend.

Starting with the hosts, marking their iconic Champions League return with a stellar 3-0 romp away at Swiss giants Young Boys earlier in the week, Aston Villa find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Only continuing to shine under the guidance of Unai Emery, the Villains have once again come flying out of the traps since opening up the new campaign. Marking their return from September’s international break with a remarkable comeback on home soil as they eventually left Villa Park with a 3-2 victory, the former Arsenal boss has seen his squad muster nine points from their first four Premier League appearances. Getting proceedings underway with an impressive 2-1 win away at West Ham on August 17th, Saturday’s hosts will certainly be confident of making another statement here. Excited to make a return to the Midlands this weekend, it should also be highlighted that Villa secured a routine 2-0 win when they last welcomed their local rivals to town back on March 30th.

As for the visitors, suffering what was a dramatic collapse at home against Newcastle last weekend as they marked their return from September’s international break with a 2-1 loss against Newcastle, Wolves are drastically seeking some kind of boost. Heading into the fortnight interval with a woeful 6-2 drumming at the hands of Chelsea, Gary O’Neil’s men have collected just a single point from any of their first four Premier League appearances. Getting proceedings underway with a 2-0 loss away at Arsenal, the former Bournemouth boss has seen his downbeat squad show a string of issues on either side of the summer break. Along with losing all of their final three Premier League matchups last season by an aggregate score of 10-2, O’Neil’s side have remarkably collected just a single top-flight win since returning from March’s international break. Already shipping 11 goals so far this season, Wolves are rightfully pencilled in as a landslide underdog here.
