Competition: Serie A

Market: Atalanta win

Odds: 4/11 @ BetUS

Looking to extend on their recent purple patch, Atalanta will welcome Monza to Bergamo on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Atalanta might have struggled to find much stability when opening up the new campaign, La Dea have come roaring back in a sensational fashion. Last seen over the weekend laying down a major statement of intent as they stormed their way to a 6-1 romp against Verona, the reigning Europa League champions are in the midst of what has become a remarkable purple patch. Heading into October’s international break with a 5-1 victory against Genoa, the Bergamo-based outfit have collected 13 points from their previous five appearances across all competitions. Looking to skyrocket their way into the top-four on Wednesday night, Gian Piero Gasperini have certainly impressed with their free-scoring performances in the final third. In fact, Atalanta have already registering 24 goals in just their first nine Serie A appearances so far this season. Currently holding the best attacking tally among Italy’s elite, La Dea should be smelling another golden opportunity here.

As for the visitors, although Monza might have marked their return from October’s international break with a much-needed 3-0 win against Verona, the Reds have struggled to find any kind of stability so far this season. Eventually forced to settle for a 2-2 stalemate at home against Venezia last weekend, Alessandro Nesta’s side have put just a single Serie A victory on the board from any of their first nine top-flight appearances. Holding just a two-point buffer from slipping into the relegation zone, Wednesday’s guests certainly have a real challenge on their hands here. Hit with a 2-1 loss when they last met La Dea back on April 21st, they should be concerned by a nightmare record against Atalanta. Including a 3-0 drumming when they travelled to Bergamo last season, Monza have lost each of their last four meetings by an aggregate score of 12-3. Given the huge recent gulf in class, we are backing a home victory here.
