Competition: Serie A

Market: Atalanta win

Odds: 8/15 @ BetUS

Looking to extend on their domestic purple patch this weekend, Atalanta will welcome Udinese to Bergamo on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Atalanta might have eventually fallen short in their bid to book a lucrative Champions League return last season, La Dea have their sights set on pinching a top-four finish this time around. Last seen putting in another rampant display as they cruised their way to a 5-0 romp against Frosinone, Gian Piero Gasperini’s men certainly find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Extending on their Copa Italia adventure earlier in the month and punching a semi-final ticket thanks to a 2-1 win away at local rivals AC Milan, Atalanta have lost just one of their previous nine appearances across all competitions – a run that stems back to December 4th. Smelling the chance to make another domestic statement on Saturday afternoon, the Bergamo-based outfit have gained a fearsome reputation for their continued success on home soil. Opening the New Year with a 3-1 victory against Sassuolo, it should be highlighted that Gasperini’s side have won all of their last five showdowns at the Gewiss Stadium by an aggregate score of 16-4.

As for the visitors, while Udinese might have signed off 2023 with a much-needed 3-0 romp at home against Bologna, it appears that might have just been a minor boost for the Little Zebras. Last seen suffering a heartbreaking collapse in front of their own supporters as they eventually fell to a 3-2 defeat against AC Milan, Gabriele Cioffi’s side find themselves at the heart of a Serie A relegation scrap. Opening up Saturday’s trip to Bergamo holding just a one-point buffer from slipping into the relegation play-off spot, Udinese have collected just a single win from any of their previous 10 domestic appearances across all competitions. It should also be noted, continuing on from last season, Cioffi’s men have registered just one Serie A win on their travels over the past 10 months. Likewise, not picking up a single victory from any of their last six trips to the Gewiss Stadium – a run that stems back to December 2016 – we are expecting a similar outcome this weekend.
