Competition: MLS
Market: Austin FC win
Odds: 8/11 @ 888sport
Looking to extend on what has become a real purple patch, Austin will welcome Houston to the Q2 Stadium in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Starting with the hosts, last seen over the weekend when putting in a rampant display on the road, there is no doubt that the mood in Austin’s camp will be at a red-hot high. Storming their way to an eye-catching 3-0 win against Atlanta, Josh Wolff’s men have continued to gain a host of plaudits from across America this season. Skyrocketing their way up the Western Conference table and knowing that three points here would see them leapfrog Los Angeles, the Oaks are enjoying a remarkable purple patch. Finding a way to build off of that 3-2 win against Colorado on July 4th, Austin are now in the midst of a stellar five-match unbeaten run. Likewise, managing to muster 13 points on that five-match MLS unbeaten run, Wednesday’s hosts have also found quite the clinical edge in the final third. Enjoying their brightest run of the season, Wolff’s side will be smelling a golden chance at the Q2 Stadium.
As for the visitors, while Austin might be enjoying an eye-catching run of form, the same cannot be said for Houston. Although the Dynamo’s might have managed to snatch a 2-2 draw against Dallas a few days ago, Head Coach Paulo Nagamura finds his side facing a real uphill struggle if they’re to clinch a Final Series spot in the Western Conference, the Oranges have recorded just a single victory from their last five MLS outings. Likewise, with just a pair of domestic wins to their name since back on May 22nd, Houston will be more than aware that they will face a tough test in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Showing some real issues at the back and shipping at least a pair of strikes in six of their previous eight showdowns, they also hold a downbeat record against Austin. Including a 2-1 loss back in April, it should be noted that Houston have lost each of their last three meetings against Wednesday’s hosts.
