Competition: Primeira Liga

Market: Benfica win to nil

Odds: 4/5 @ Pribet

Looking to extend on their domestic romp in midweek, Benfica will welcome Farnese to the Estadio da Luz on Wednesday night.

Stating with the hosts, marking their return from March’s international break with another dominant display as they cruised their way to a 3-0 romp away at Gil Vicente, the Portuguese giants are enjoying what has been a major domestic flurry. Despite watching their Champions League adventure come to an end last month at the hands of Barcelona, Bruno Lage’s side find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Opening Wednesday’s showdown sat just three points adrift of leapfrogging Sporting Lisbon and finding a route to the top of the Primeira Liga table, the former Wolves boss should be smelling another golden opportunity here. Booking their Taco de Portugal semi-final spot on February 26th as they claimed a 1-0 win against Braga, Benfica have won each of their last eight domestic showdowns across all competitions. Looking to lay down another title statement in midweek, Lage’s side will also be excited by their continued dominance on home soil. It should be noted, the Eagles have won all of their previous four Primeira Liga matchups at the Estadio da Luz by an aggregate score of 13-2.

As for the visitors, while Benfica might be in the midst of a real title charge, Farnese are facing an uphill battle in the race to keep hold of their top-flight status in 2025. Heading into March’s international brea with a toothless 1-0 loss at home against Braga, Toze’s men are pencilled in as a leading relegation candidate this season. Marking their return from the fortnight interval sat in the relegation zone, the Faro-based outfit are also six points adrift of safety. Getting March underway with another 1-0 defeat against AFS, Wednesday’s guests have failed to win any of their previous 12 consecutive appearances across all competitions – a rut that stems all the way back to December 21st. Drawing a blank in four of their last six Primeira Liga matchups, Farnese couldn’t have asked for a tougher challenge here. Two camps who find themselves firmly scrapping it out at opposite ends of the table, it is almost impossible to see anything other than a routine home winning Lisbon.

Bet: Benfica 4/5 to beat Farense to nil in Wednesday’s Primeira Liga battle @ Pribet
