Bitesize Prediction: Birmingham vs Norwich – 30/08/22

Competition: Championship

Market: Norwich win

Odds: 19/20 @ 888sport

Looking to extend on their recent boost, Norwich will make the trip to St. Andrew’s on Tuesday night when they meet Birmingham.

Starting with the hosts, while Birmingham might have managed to cling onto their Championship status back in May, the Blues are in the midst of an extended crisis. Last seen over the weekend when putting in another hugely worrying display as they were hit with a deserved 2-0 defeat away at Rotherham, John Eustace’s men only sit outside of the relegation zone thanks to their goal difference. Opening the 2022/23 campaign with a 0-0 stalemate away at Luton, the Midlands-based outfit have won just one of their first seven matchups across all formats. With their downbeat run highlighted by a 1-0 loss at home against Wigan on August 20th, Birmingham have also continued to struggle in the final third. It should be highlighted, Tuesday’s hosts have bagged just a single strike in any of their last four Championship battles.

As for the visitors, although Norwich might have marked their Championship return this summer in the midst of their own struggle, it appears that Dean Smith’s side have put those issues behind them. Still tipped as one of the leading contenders to clinch an immediate Premier League return, the ex-Aston Villa boss has seen his squad win each of their last three Championship contests. Despite watching their EFL Cup run come to an abrupt end against Bournemouth on August 23rd, Norwich should be smelling a golden chance here. With their recent improvements highlighted by a 2-1 victory against last season’s play-off finalists Huddersfield, Tuesday’s guests will also be boosted by a rampant record against Birmingham. Winning each of their last four meetings, we’re backing a similar outcome in midweek.
