In what is a real Midlands derby on Friday night, Birmingham will welcome West Brom to St. Andrew’s for what could be a fiery affair.
Starting with the hosts, while Birmingham might have shown some extended inconsistencies this season, the Blues are coming off the back of a thrilling display away from St. Andrew’s. Mounting a stunning last-gasp comeback against Swansea as they eventually snatched a 4-3 victory in south Wales, John Eustace will be desperate for his side to build on that performance. However, despite claiming just their second win from their previous nine domestic showdowns across all formats, the one-time Premier League outfit have continued to show a host of issues on home soil. Almost finding themselves sat in second-tier limbo, Birmingham have lost each of their last four straight matchups at St. Andrew’s. With that run highlighted by a 3-1 drumming at the hands of Middlesbrough on January 2nd, Eustace’s side should face another tough test here.
As for the visitors, managing to make a return to winning ways thanks to a 1-0 victory at home against Coventry last weekend, West Brom really are enjoying life under Carlos Corberan. Despite enduring a real Championship nightmare prior to the World Cup break, the former Huddersfield boss has seen his side skyrocket up the second-tier standings. Finding a shock route into the play-off places and now dreaming of securing a Premier League return this season, the Baggies will be desperate to lay down another marker here. Despite watching their FA Cup run come to an abrupt end away at Bristol City last month, Corberan’s men have lost just one of their previous six Championship outings – a run that stems back to December 21st. Claiming a 3-2 win when they last traveled to St. Andrew’s back in 2019, we’re backing an away draw no bet here.
