Competition: Championship

Market: Both teams to score – No

Odds: 10/11 @ BetUS

Turning their attention back to Championship action on Wednesday night, Blackburn will welcome Portsmouth to Ewood Park.

Starting with the hosts, extending on their FA Cup adventure last weekend as they clinched an impressive 1-0 victory away at Middlesborough, Blackburn will be looking to use that performance as a platform to build on. While the Rovers might find themselves sat within touching distance of skyrocketing their way back into the play-off spots, John Eustace’s side have failed to record a single victory from any of their previous five Championship appearances. Looking to end their recent second-tier rut when they return to Ewood Park on Wednesday night, Blackburn are also seeking a clinical edge in the final third. Signing off 2024 with a 1-0 loss at the hands of Hull, the former Birmingham boss has seen his men bag just a a sole strike in their previous three Championship showdowns. It should also be highlighted, the play-off dreamers have drawn back-to-back blanks at Ewood Park for the first time since returning from November’s international break.

As for the visitors, while Portsmouth might have only made their Championship return this season, John Musinho’s men have a real battle on their hands in the race to keep hold of their second-tier status in 2025. Suffering an FA Cup upset away at League One outfit Wycombe last weekend as they fell to a 2-0 loss, Pompey have lost four of their previous five appearances across all competitions. Getting hit with a 1-0 defeat against Sunderland earlier in the month, Wednesday’s guests have also shown their own extended issues in the final third. Signing off 2024 with a routine 3-0 drumming against Bristol City, the one-time Brentford defender has seen his squad draw a blank in three of their last four outings. Opening the midweek fixtures with just their goal difference keeping them outside the relegation zone, Portsmouth find time really starting to tick away. It should also be noted, Musinho’s camp have recorded just a single strike on their travels since the end of November.

Bet: Both teams *not* to score at Blackburn Rovers vs Portsmouth 10/11 for Wednesday’s Championship contest @ BetUS
