Competition: Championship
Market: Coventry double chance
Odds: 4/7 @ 888sport
Desperate to spring a Championship upset on Wednesday night, Coventry will make the trip to Ewood Park when they meet a struggling Blackburn.
Starting with the hosts, last seen over the weekend having to settle for a toothless 0-0 stalemate at home against Hull, Blackburn find themselves in the midst of an extended rut. While Jon Dahl Tomasson’s men might still find be dreaming of the chance to pinch a play-off spot this season, the Rovers have now failed to win any of their last five straight appearances against Championship oppositions. Watching their FA Cup run come to an end on March 19th as they suffered an action-packed 3-2 loss away at Sheffield United, the midweek hosts have also shown some recent issues in the final third. Along with marking their return from the international break with a disappointing 1-0 loss at the hands of Birmingham, Blackburn have drawn a blank in three of their last four outings. It should also be noted, Tomasson’s side have failed to find the net in back-to-back showdowns at Ewood Park.
As for the visitors, making a return to winning ways over the weekend with a thumping display in west London, Coventry should be smelling the chance to make a real Championship statement here. Eventually breezing their way to a 3-0 romp against QPR, Mark Robins’ men now have their sights set on clinching what would be a famous top-six finish this season. With just a single defeat to their name since way back on February 3rd, the Sky Blues have also gained a fearsome reputation for their success on the road. Heading into March’s international break with a routine 4-1 romp against Blackpool, Robins’ side are unbeaten in each of their previous seven straight showdowns outside of the Midlands. It should also be highlighted, Coventry have shipped just a pair of strikes on that seven-match unbeaten flurry. Given the recent gulf in class between Wednesday’s opponents, we are backing an away double chance in Lancashire.
