Competition: Bundesliga
Market: Freiburg win
Odds: 6/5 @ 888sport
Two sides who find themselves battling it out at opposite ends of the Bundesliga table, Freiburg will make the trip to Bochum on Saturday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, while Bochum might have opened February with a much-needed victory at home against Hoffenheim, it appears that might have been just a minor boost for Thomas Letsch’s side. Last seen putting in a toothless display as they were hit with a routine 3-0 loss away at defending champions Bayern Munich, the Blues find themselves at the heart of a relegation scrap. Along with crashing out of the DFP Pokal last week following a lively 2-1 defeat at home against Borussia Dortmund, the former Austria Wien has seen his side lose four of their last five domestic showdowns. With that run highlighted by a 5-2 drumming at the hands of Mainz on January 28th, there does appear to be some growing pressure on Letsch’s shoulders. Holding just a two-point buffer from slipping into the relegation zone, Bochum should face another stern test here.
As for the visitors, last seen claiming an eye-catching 2-1 win at home against Stuttgart, Freiburg have once again impressed many across Germany this season. With their sights firmly set on securing a stunning Champions League spot in 2023, Christian Streich’s men will be smelling the chance to make another Bundesliga statement on Saturday afternoon. Winning three of their last four domestic contests, it should also be noted that the Reds have suffered just a pair of defeats since way back on November 9th. With their extended flurry highlighted by a 3-1 romp at home against Augsburg last month, a high-flying Freiburg should also be excited by their most recent meeting against the relegation scrappers. Picking up a 1-0 victory when they welcomed Bochum to the Europa-Park Stadion back on August 26th, we’re backing a similar outcome here.
