Competition: Serie A

Market: Bologna win

Odds: 4/7 @ BetUS

Looking to extend on their European charge this weekend, Bologna will welcome Verona to the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, making yet another Serie A statement last week as they claimed a famous 2-1 victory away at Lazio, Bologna are enjoying a real fairytale this season. Only continuing to receive a string of plaudits from across the continent this year, it is no secret that Thiago Motta’s men have their sights firmly set on punching a European return in 2024. Opening Friday’s showdown at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara with just their goal difference keeping them outside of the Champions League spots, the Greyhounds will be smelling the chance to make another statement here. Opening February with an action-packed 4-2 win against Sassuolo, Bologna have won all of their previous four Serie A appearances on the spin. Likewise, gaining a real reputation for their free-scoring performances in the final third, Motta’s squad have notched 12 goals on their four-match winning run. Not suffering a single defeat in front of their own supporters since a 2-0 loss at the hands of AC Milan on August 21st, the Greyhounds are rightfully tipped as a standout contender here.

As for the visitors, although Verona might have managed to snatch a shock 2-2 stalemate at home against Juventus last week, the Mastiffs are enduring another Serie A struggle this season. At the heart of another relegation scrap this season and still battling it out in the bottom-three, Marco Baroni’s men have continued to show some glaring inconsistencies. Opening February with a 2-1 defeat against defending champions Napoli, the Veneto-based outfit are without a win from their previous five top-flight appearances. Likewise, winning just one of their last eight outings – a run that stems back to December 23rd – Verona will be bracing themselves for another heavyweight challenge here. Remarkably mustering just a pair of Serie A victories since the end of August, Baroni’s side will also be worried by their most recent showdown against Friday’s hosts. Hit with a routine 2-0 defeat when they travelled to the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara while on Coppa Italia duties back on October 31st, we are expecting a similar outcome this weekend.
