Competition: League One
Market: Bolton win
Odds: 1/2 @ 888sport
Looking to shore up their spot in the play-off chase on Tuesday night, a high-flying Bolton will host local rivals Accrington Stanley.
Starting with the hosts, last seen over the weekend putting in another professional display as they claimed a 1-0 victory at home against Shrewsbury, Bolton are certainly enjoying what has been an extended purple patch. Claiming this season’s EFL Trophy thanks to a stunning 4-0 romp against Plymouth at Wembley on April 2nd, Ian Evatt’s men know that they sit in pole position to secure a play-off spot this season. Impressing many across League One this season, the Trotters are unbeaten in each of their last seven appearances across all competitions – a run that stems back to March 11th. Riding what has been a wave of momentum during the final few weeks of the campaign, Bolton should be smelling the chance to make another statement here. It should also be highlighted, Evatt’s top-six contenders have suffered just a single defeat on home soil since way back on November 5th.
As for the visitors, slumping to a toothless 1-0 loss away at Portsmouth over the weekend, it appears that Accrington Stanley are free-falling their way out of England’s third-tier. Opening Tuesday’s showdown sat three points adrift of safety and tipped as a leading relegation contender in 2023, John Coleman’s side will know that they face a huge challenge here. In fact, on a run that is highlighted by a 5-2 drumming at home against Fleetwood on April 15th, Accrington have now lost each of their last four straight League One appearances. Really showing a string of defensive issues and shipping 11 strikes on their four-match losing run, Coleman’s men should also be worried by their most recent meeting against the play-off contenders. Hit with a 2-0 loss when they welcomed their local rivals to the Crown Ground for an EFL Trophy contest on February 22nd, we are expecting a similar outcome here.
