Competition: EURO qualifiers
Market: Bosnia & Herzegovina win
Odds: 4/5 @ 888sport
Looking to get their Group J campaign off to a flying start on Thursday night, Bosnia & Herzegovina will welcome Iceland to Zenica.
Starting with the hosts, while Bosnia & Herzegovina might have signed off their Nations League adventure last year with a 4-1 drumming away at Romania, that result shouldn’t have damped the mood in Faruk Hadzibegic’s camp. Gaining a string of plaudits as they secured a shock League B promotion, the Dragons will be looking to make an early qualification marker on Thursday night. Along with suffering just a single Nations League defeat and picking up some notable scalps, the Blues have also lost just one of their last seven matchups across all formats. With that eye-catching flurry highlighted by an action-packed 3-2 victory against Finland back in June 2022, Bosnia have also continued to shine on home soil. Last seen in Zenica landing a 1-0 win against Montenegro, it should be noted that Hadzibegic’s man have won each of their last four home fixtures by an aggregate score of 6-2.
As for the visitors, suffering a stunning Baltic Cup final defeat at the hands of Latvia back in November, it is fair to say that Iceland find themselves at the heart of an extended crisis. Last seen opening 2023 with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sweden in a friendly showdown on January 12th, Arnar Vioarsson’s men have failed to win any of their last seven straight appearances within 90 minutes. Knowing that they are in need of a minor miracle if they’re to somehow find a route out of Group J, a huge part of Iceland’s continued struggles has been down to their issues on foreign soil. In fact, aside from a hard-fought 1-0 victory against European whipping boys San Marino last year, that is the only away win that Vioarsson’s downbeat squad have claimed since way back in June 2021. Facing a tough opener when they travel to Zenica on Thursday night, we are expecting a home victory here.
