Competition: Copa Sudamericana

Market: Botafogo RJ win

Odds: 4/11 @ 1xBet

Looking to finish off the job and extended on their Copa Sudamericana adventure, Botafogo will welcome Patronato to the Nilton Santos late on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, putting in a dominant first-leg display out in Argentina last week as they claimed a deserved 2-0 victory, Botafogo are simply looking to avoid a Copa Sudamericana banana skin here. Sat firmly in pole position and excited by the prospect of making a return to the Nilton Santos on Wednesday night. Only continuing to shine on either side of June’s international break Bruno Lage’s men have now won each of their previous four appearances across all competitions. Keeping up their recent purple patch a few days ago as they picked up another 2-0 win against Bragantino, the former Wolves boss also finds his high-flying squad in the midst of a nine-match unbeaten flurry. It should also be noted, along with keeping a clean sheet in each of their previous four consecutive victories, Botafogo have conceded just a single strike on their nine-match romp. Not really having to get out of third gear on first-leg duties last week, Lage will be calling on a repeat performance here.

As for the visitors, while Patronato might have claimed a welcomed boost on domestic duties over the weekend, El Patron will be more than aware that they face a monumental challenge here. Largely blown away at the Estadio Presbítero Bartolome Grella last week as they suffered that 2-0 first-leg defeat, Facundo Sava’s men have continued to struggle with their consistency since opening the 2023 campaign. Last seen on their travels slumping to another 2-0 loss at the hands of Alvardo while in Primera Division action, Wednesday’s guests have certainly gained a reputation for their glaring issues on the road. In fact, the one-time Racing Club has seen his inconsistent squad muster just a single win from any of their previous eight straight contests outside of Parana – a run that stems all the way back to April 22nd. Needing what would be a minor Copa Sudamericana miracle in midweek, we are expecting a home victory here.
