Competition: Brazil Serie A
Market: Over 1.5 goals
Odds: 4/11 @ Pribet
Looking to extend on their remarkable purple patch this weekend, a high-flying Fortaleza will travel to Bragantino on Saturday night.
Starting with the hosts, while Bragantino might have opened up the 2024 campaign with their sights set on mounting a genuine top-four charge, Pedro Caixinha’s men have drastically struggled to find any kind of stability. Hit with a 2-1 defeat at home against domestic rivals Corinthians earlier in the week while in Copa Sudamericana action, the Sao Paulo-based outfit have come under some increasing scrutiny. Crashing out of the Copa do Brasil on August 7th as they suffered a 5-2 aggregate loss at the hands of Athletic-PR, the former Rangers boss has seen his squad win just a pair of their previous 11 appearances across all competitions. Scrapping it out in the bottom-half of the Serie A standings, Saturday’s hosts have also shown some glaring defensive issues. In fact, Bragantino have recorded just a single clean sheet from any of their last 18 consecutive outings – a run that stems all the way back to a 2-0 win away at Gremio on June 1st.
As for the visitors, continuing on what has been a sensational purple patch, the mood in Fortaleza’s camp should be at a red-hot high. Getting August underway with a 2-1 victory away at Cruzeiro, Juan Pablo Vojvoda’s has seen his squad gain a string of plaudits from across Brazil’s elite. Along with winning all of their previous three Serie A appearances by an aggregate score of 4-1, the Ceara-based outfit have remarkably collected 22 points from their previous eight top-flight matchups. With their history-making run stemming back to a 2-0 loss against Vasco on July 4th, the former Huracan boss has also seen his squad gain a reputation for their rugged success away from the Castelao. Including a famous 2-1 win against Brazilian heavyweights Flamengo last month, Fortaleza have suffered just a single defeat on their travels since back on June 16th. Despite being pencilled in as a real underdog on Saturday night, Vojvoda’s men could be smelling the chance to make another statement of intent.
