Competition: Brazil Serie A

Market: Bragantino win

Odds: 7/10 @ BetUS

Seeking a much-welcomed return to winning ways last on Thursday night, Bragantino will welcome Fortaleza Sao Paulo in midweek.

Starting with the hosts, while Bragantino might find themselves sat firmly in pole position to claim a famous top-six finish this season, Pedro Caixinha’s side do have the feel of a squad seeking a recent boost. Putting in another toothless performance as they suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of Internacional, the one-time Rangers boss has seen his camp muster just a single point from their previous four Serie A appearances on either side of November’s international break. However, knowing that they can officially clinch a Copa Libertadores ticket here, Bragantino will be excited will be excited to make a return to home soil in midweek. Gaining a fearsome reputation for their continued success in Sao Paulo, Caixinha’s men have lost just one of their last seven showdowns in front of their own supporters across all formats – a run that stems all the way back to August 26th. With that hometown flurry highlighted by a 1-0 victory against Corinthians earlier in the month, Bragantino should be smelling a golden opportunity late on Thursday night.

As for the visitors, while Fortaleza might have managed to snatch a gritty point at home against Brazilian giants Palmeiras over the weekend, that result doesn’t cover what has certainly been an extended domestic rut. With many in Juan Vojvoda’s camp now looking over their shoulder at the drop zone, the Ceara-based outfit are without a single victory from any of their previous 10 straight appearances across all competitions – a run that stems all the way back to October 8th. Heading into November’s international break with a worrying 2-1 defeat at the hands of Cuiaba, there appears to be some mounting pressure on Vojvoda’s shoulders. Facing what looks set to be a stern examination late on Thursday night, Fortaleza should be concerned by their nightmare recent meeting against the top-six contenders. Hit with a woeful 3-0 drumming when they welcomed Bragantino to town back on July 29th, we are expecting a similar home victory here.
