Bitesize Prediction: Brighton vs Ipswich – 14/09/24

Competition: Premier League

Market: Brighton win

Odds: 4/11 @ BetUS

Looking to extend on their remarkable start to the new campaign, Brighton will welcome Ipswich to the Amex on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while some around the Amex might have been upset over the summer as Roberto De Zerbi left the club, Brighton have only continued on a remarkable rise under new boss Fabian Hurzeler. Opening the new campaign with a real statement as they stormed their way to a 3-0 romp away at Everton, the former St. Pauli boss should find the mood in his camp at a red-hot high. Heading into September’s international break with a 1-1 stalemate against title contenders Arsenal, the Seagulls have collected seven points from their first three Premier League appearances. With their sights firmly set on booking a European return this season, Saturday’s hosts have gained plenty of plaudits for their free-flowing approach under Hurzeler. Extending on their EFL Cup adventure on August 27th as they secured a routine 4-0 win against League One outfit Crawley, Brighton will certainly be smelling a golden opportunity this weekend.

As for the visitors, making real history last season as they stormed their way to an iconic Premier League return, Ipswich have continued to receive a string of plaudits. However, while Kieran McKenna’s side might be in the midst of a public fairytale, they do face a real battle to keep hold of their top-flight status this year. Getting proceedings underway with a 4-1 drumming at the hands of defending champions Manchester City, the Blues have put just a single point on the board from any of their first three Premier League appearances. Shockingly crashing out of the EFL Cup last month following a penalties defeat away at fourth-tier club AFC Wimbledon, Ipswich should be bracing themselves for another stern examination when they travel to the Amex this weekend. Given what has been a huge recent gulf in class between Saturday’s opponents, we are backing a home victory here.
