Competition: A-League
Market: Auckland FC win
Odds: 4/5 @ BetUS
Desperate to widen their buffer at the top of the A-League table, Auckland will make the trip to the Suncorp Stadium when they meet Brisbane on Sunday morning.
Starting with the hosts, making a much-welcomed return to winning ways last time out as they secured a 3-1 victory away at Perth, Brisbane will be desperate to use that performance as a platform to build on. However, with their play-off dreams once again going up in smoke, the Lions have collected just 11 points from their 19 appearances this season and only their goal difference is keeping them off the foot of the table. Signing off February with a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Newcastle, Ruben Zadkovich’s side have remarkably won just a pair of their previous 22 A-League showdowns continuing on from last season – a run that stems all the way back to April 2024. Likewise, along with failing to muster a single clean sheet so far this season, Brisbane have also gained a real reputation for their glaring issues on home soil. Including a 3-1 defeat against fellow strugglers Central Coast when opening the New Year, Sunday’s hosts have astonishingly collected just a sole point from any of their last 11 A-League battles at the Suncorp Stadium.
As for the visitors, while Auckland might have been forced to settle for a single point in each of their previous three A-League appearances, the Black Knights are enjoying what has been a real fairytale. Despite only making their debut this season, Steve Corica’s side hold a four-point buffer at the top of the table and are sat firmly in the driving seat to make major history in 2025. Signing off February with a sensational 6-1 romp against Wellington, Sunday’s guests find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Along with being unbeaten in each of their previous nine consecutive A-League appearances, Auckland have also suffered just a single defeat since opening the New Year. Hoping to widen their buffer over the chasing pack this weekend, the former Sydney boss should be smelling a golden opportunity in Queensland. It should also be highlighted, Corica’s camp collected a routine 2-0 victory when they welcomed Brisbane to the Go Media Stadium on October 19th, we are expecting a similar outcome here.
