Competition: A-League
Market: Both teams to score
Odds: 2/3 @ 888sport
Two A-League sides who are seeking a much-needed boost on Friday morning, Brisbane Roar will welcome Central Coast Mariners to Queensland when this weekend’s fixtures get underway.
Starting with the hosts, only continuing on another A-League nightmare this season, Brisbane find themselves in a real battle to avoid lifting the wooden spoon. Last seen putting in another downbeat display as they were hit with a 2-1 loss away at Brisbane, Warren Moon finds a huge amount of pressure on his shoulders. Holding just a two-point buffer from slipping to the foot of the table, the Lions have collected just a single point from any of their last five A-League showdowns. Likewise, with just a single victory to their name from any of their previous eight attempts – a run that stems all the way back to December 16th – Brisbane have continued to show a string of issues at the back. It should be highlighted, Brisbane have now recorded just a sole clean sheet on home soil since returning from the World Cup break.
As for the visitors, while Central Coast might have found a welcomed flurry when opening 2023, the Mariners have come crashing back down to earth in some style. Last seen suffering a second-half collapse away at Sydney as they slumped to an action-packed 3-2 defeat, Nick Montgomery’s men have collected just a single point from their previous three A-League outings. With that sole point coming thanks to a 2-2 draw at home against Western Sydney last month, the Gosford-based outfit have also gained a reputation for their lively outcomes. With just a single domestic clean sheet to their name since back on December 21st, it should be noted that Central Coast have seen each of their last four A-League battles finish with both teams finding the net. In a contest that should see chances at both ends of the pitch, we’re backing a similar outcome here.
