Competition: A-League
Market: Both teams to score
Odds: 4/6 @ 888sport
Two sides who really find themselves battling it out at opposite ends of the A-League standings, Brisbane will host Melbourne City on Wednesday morning.
Starting with the hosts, although Brisbane might be enduring a worrying A-League campaign this season, the Roar have managed to find a much-needed boost over the fortnight. Laying down a real marker last weekend and storming their way to a thumping 4-1 win away at Perth Glory, Head Coach Warren Moon has seen his side claim back-to-back victories. With it looking like their 2-1 win at home against Wellington on March 12th was a real turning point, the Oranges are now desperate to skyrocket their way up the table. While 29-year-old Juan Lescano might have bagged three A-League strikes in as many appearances, Moon will have a continued headache over his side’s struggles at the back. It should be highlighted, Wednesday’s hosts have failed to record a single clean sheet since the end of January.
As for the visitors, after being left disappointed to have had to settle for back-to-back 1-1 and 2-2 draws against Melbourne Victory and Western United, City will be hoping for a response here. Still hanging onto their spot at the top of the A-League table and looking to defend their domestic crown this season, the Sky Blues are in the midst of an eight-match unbeaten run. With attacking talisman Jamie Maclaren already racking up 12 strikes this season, Head Coach Patrick Kisnorbo will also be boosted by his side’s most recent meeting against Brisbane. When they last faced off against the Roar in November, the Australian heavyweights picked up a 2-1 victory. However, remarkably managing to record just a single clean sheet across any format since way back on December 8th, don’t be surprised to see another lively affair on Wednesday morning.
