Bitesize Prediction: Bristol City vs Middlesbrough – 19/02/22

Competition: Championship

Market: Middlesbrough win

Odds: 11/10 @ 888sport

Looking to extend on their play-off charge this weekend, Middlesbrough will make the trip to Ashton Gate on Saturday afternoon when they meet Bristol City.

Starting with the hosts, making an immediate return to losing ways last weekend, Bristol City find themselves in the midst of what has been an extended Championship blip this season. Last seen getting hit with a 3-1 defeat away at fellow strugglers Swansea, Nigel Pearson really finds growing pressure on his spot as Ashton Gate. With it looking like their 2-1 win against relegation scrappers Reading earlier in the month was just a minor boost, the Robins have managed to record just a pair of victories from their last eight attempts, a run that stems back to January 2nd. Still firmly battling it out at the foot of the Championship table, Bristol City should also be worried by their most recent meeting against Saturday’s opponents. When they made the trip to the Riverside back in August, Pearson’s men were hit with a deserved 2-1 loss on the road.

As for the visitors, extending on their FA Cup adventure earlier in the month with a stunning win away at Premier League giants Manchester United, Middlesbrough are enjoying a real purple patch. Continuing to shine since bringing in Chris Wilder, the Reds now find themselves sat in pole position to clinch a play-off spot this season. With the mood around the Riverside at a red-hot high, the former Sheffield United boss also saw his side lay down another marker last weekend. Storming their way to a 4-1 romp against relegation scrappers Derby on home soil, Boro should be smelling a golden chance here. It should also be highlighted, Saturday’s guests have lost just one of their last 13 matchups across all formats, a run that stems all the way back to November 23rd. Given the recent gulf in class, we’re backing an away victory at Ashton Gate.
