Bitesize Prediction: Burnley vs Preston – 05/10/24

Competition: Championship

Market: Burnley win

Odds: 7/10 @ 1xBet

Hoping to climb to the top of the Championship table this weekend, Burnley will welcome Preston to Turf Moor on Saturday lunchtime.

Starting with the hosts, while Burnley might have lost their championship status last season, the Clarets have their sights firmly set on securing an immediate top-flight return. Only continuing to shine under the guidance of new boss Scott Parker, the Lancashire-based outfit are pencilled in as a standout promotion contender this year. Last seen earlier in the week collecting a 1-0 victory at home against Plymouth, the former Fulham boss has seen his squad lose just one of their first eight Championship appearances. Likewise, mustering 10 points since returning from September’s international break, Fulham have also impressed with their rugged performances at the back. Marking their return from September’s fortnight interval with a stellar 1-0 win away at Leeds, Saturday’s hosts have conceded just a single strike in in over 400 minutes of action. Opening this weekend’s fixtures sat just a single point adrift of climbing to the top of the Championship table, Parker’s side should be smelling a real opportunity here.

As for the visitors, making a much-welcomed return to winning ways earlier in the week as they stormed their way to a 3-0 romp at home against Watford, Preston will be desperate to use that performance as a platform to build on. However, still battling it out at the foot of the Championship table and opening Saturday’s showdown holding just a one-point buffer from slipping into the relegation zone, Paul Heckingbottom’s men have shown some real inconsistencies this season. Getting proceedings underway with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Swansea on August 17th, the former Sheffield United boss will also be concerned by his side’s glaring issues away from Deepdale. Last seen on their travels falling to a 3-1 loss against Millwall, Saturday’s guests have collected just a sole point from any of their first four Championship showdowns on the road. Suffering a 3-0 defeat when they last travelled to Turf Moor back in February of last year, we are expecting a similar home victory here.
