Bitesize Prediction: Burnley vs Watford – 14/02/23

Competition: Championship

Market: Burnley win

Odds: 8/11 @ 888sport

Looking to lay down another thumping Championship marker on Tuesday night, Burnley will welcome Watford to Turf Moor.

Starting with the hosts, claiming local bragging rights over the weekend as they breezed their way to a 3-0 romp at home against Preston, Burnley are in the midst of what has become a famous flurry at Turf Moor. Skyrocketing their way towards an immediate Premier League return in 2023, Vincent Kompany finds the mood in his camp at a red-hot high. Only continuing to gain a string of plaudits from across England this season, the ex-Manchester City skipper has quickly seen his side gain a fearsome reputation. Remarkably opening the midweek fixtures already holding a commanding 17-point buffer from slipping out of the automatic promotion places, the Clarets will simply be looking to make another second-tier statement here. It should also be noted, Kompany’s high-flying squad have not suffered a single Championship defeat since back on November 5th.

As for the visitors, while Watford might have also had their sights set on securing an immediate Premier League return this season, the Hornets have struggled to find any real stability. Last seen over the weekend having to settle for a 1-1 draw at home against Blackburn, Slaven Bilic’s side have recorded just a pair of victories from their previous nine Championship contests. With that extended blip stemming all the way back to December 17th, the former West Ham boss will know that his squad face a huge challenge on Tuesday night. Making the trip to Turf Moor in midweek holding just a one-point buffer from slipping out of the play-off places, Watford have also shown some extended issues on the road. Collecting just a single point from their last three Championship fixtures away from Vicarage Road, we’re backing a home victory here.
