Competition: League Two

Market: Carlisle win

Odds: 23/20 @ 888sport

Looking to extend on their play-off charge in midweek, Carlisle will welcome Barrow to Brunton Park on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, last seen putting in another rugged display as they claimed a 1-0 victory away at Rochdale over the weekend, Carlisle are enjoying what has been a stellar purple patch. While Paul Simpson’s men might have been left disappointed by their 2-1 loss at the hands of Doncaster earlier in the month, the Cumbria-based outfit have proven that was nothing more than a minor blip. In fact, now winning each of their last three outings on the spin by an aggregate score of 6-1, it should also be noted that Carlisle have won five of their previous six matchups across all formats. With that run stemming all the way back to December 20th, Simpson’s men have also continued to shine on home soil this season. Including a 2-0 victory against Newport a fortnight ago, Tuesday’s hosts are unbeaten at Brunton Park since the end of October.

As for the visitors, although some in Barrow’s camp might still be dreaming of a shock play-off spot this season, they are in the midst of an extended rut. Last seen over the weekend putting in another worrying display as they slumped to a 2-0 loss at home against Northampton, Pete Wild’s side have managed to muster just a single win from any of their last nine straight matchups across all formats. With that run stemming all the way back to November 19th, the Bluebirds should face another tough test on Tuesday night. Signing off 2022 with a 2-1 loss at the hands of Tranmere, Barrow have also shown some extended issues on the road. With just a sole victory away from Holker Street since the middle of September, a home win can be found at appealing odds here.
