Two sides who find themselves scrapping it out at the foot of the A-League table, Central Coast will welcome Perth to Gosford in the early hours of Sunday.
Starting with the hosts, while Central Coast might have made real history last season as they successfully defended their A-League crown, the Mariners have come crashing back down to earth in an infamous fashion this time around. Coming under a huge amount of scrutiny, Mark Jackson’s men are limping their way over the finishing line. With their play-ff dreams going up in smoke, the soon-to-be former champions have collected just a single point from any of their previous six appearances across all competitions. Likewise, Centras Coast are without a win from any of their last 10 consecutive outings – a run that stems back to a 3-1 victory against Western Sydney on January 17th. Signing off February with a 3-1 loss, Sunday’s hosts have also shown some glaring issues on home soil. In fact, Jackson’s camp have lost all of their previous three showdowns at the Industree Group Stadium by an aggregate score of 9-1.
As for the visitors, once again sat rock-bottom of the table, Perth have only further underlined their status as Australia’s ultimate whipping boys. Last seen prior to March’s international break getting hit with a 3-1 loss at home against Brisbane, the Glory have put just 11 points on the board from any of their 21 A-League appearances so far this season. With their extended crisis underlined by a 4-1 drumming at the hands of Western Sydney earlier in the month, David Zdrilic’s side are without a win from any of their previous eight consecutive outings. Shipping seven goals in their back-to-back appearances this month, Perth are pencilled in as a landslide favourite to once again lift the wooden spoon in 2025. However, snatching a 1-1 stalemate when they welcomed Central Coast to HBF Park on February 7th, they do hold a rugged record against Sunday’s hosts. It should be noted, Zdrilic’s men have lost just one of their previous nine meetings.
