Competition: MLS
Market: Charlotte win
Odds: 1/1 @ 888sport
Two sides who are enjoying their own extended flurries, Charlotte will welcome Chicago Fire to the Bank of America Stadium in the early hours of Thursday.
Starting with the hosts, only continuing on what has been a real purple patch over the past month, Charlotte are riding what has been a stellar wave of momentum. Last seen putting in another stellar display as they secured a 3-1 romp away at Atlanta, the mood in Christian Lattanzio’s camp should be at a red-hot high. Opening May with an action-packed 3-2 win at home against New York City, the Crown have now won five of their last six domestic appearances – a run that stems back to a 2-2 draw against Colorado on April 15th. Extending on their US Open Cup adventure last month as they claimed a routine 4-1 win against Tormenta, Charlotte have certainly impressed with their extended success on home soil. Looking to make another statement here, it is worth highlighting, the Blues have won each of their last four straight appearances at the Bank of America Stadium by an aggregate score of 9-3.
As for the visitors, claiming back-to-back victories against St. Louis City over the past week, Chicago are now trying to find some much-needed stability. However, still tipped as an underdog pick to claim a play-off spot in the Eastern Conference this year, interim boss Frank Klopas will know that his squad faces a real challenge in midweek. Although Chicago might have clinched back-to-back domestic victories for the first time this season, it should be noted that Thursday’s guests have shown some extended issues on the road. Last seen on their travels getting hit with a downbeat 3-0 drumming at the hands of Nashville on May 6th, the Fire have lost three of their last four showdowns away from Solider Field. Likewise, suffering an action-packed 3-2 defeat when they welcomed Charlotte to town for an MLS showdown back in September, we are expecting a similar home win here.
