Two sides who have enjoyed an impressive start to the 2022/23 campaign, Chesterfield will welcome Barnet to the Technique Stadium on Friday night.
Starting with the hosts, after reaching the semi-finals of last season’s play-offs, it is no secret that Chesterfield have their sights set on going one step further this time around. While the Spireites might have been last seen on August 20th when playing out an action-packed 2-2 draw away at Notts County, the Derbyshire-based outfit are unbeaten in each of their opening four National League matchups. Likewise, signing off their pre-season preparations with three friendly victories on the spin, it should also be highlighted that Paul Cook’s side continued to impress on home soil throughout the 2021/22 campaign. In fact, continuing on from last season, Chesterfield have lost two of their last 10 National League contests at the Technique Stadium, a run that stems all the way back to April 2nd.
As for the visitors, despite only just hanging onto their National League status last season, Barnet appear to have put those issues behind them. Opening the 2022/23 campaign with an eye-catching 2-0 victory against Halifax on home soil, Dean Brennan’s side have mustered 10 points from their opening four outings. In fact, enjoying what has been a stellar summer resurge, the Bees open this weekend’s fixtures holding a one-point buffer at the top of the table. Likewise, with their improvements underlined by a shock 2-1 win away at Yeovil on August 8th, Barnet have their sights now set on mounting a play-off charge. However, facing what should be a stern test here, they do hold a woeful record against Chesterfield. Including a 4-1 loss back in January, Brennan’s side have lost each of their last four meetings against Friday’s opponents.
Bet: Both teams to score at Chesterfield vs Barnet 4/5 for Friday’s National League showdown @ 888sport
