Competition: MLS

Market: Chicago Fire win

Odds: 11/10 @ 888sport

Looking to extend on what has been a real purple patch, Chicago will welcome Atlanta to Soldier Field on Saturday night.

Starting with the hosts, putting in another eye-catching display last weekend as they picked up a 3-1 victory away at Vancouver, the mood in Chicago’s camp should be at a red-hot high. Skyrocketing their way up the Eastern Conference table, Head Coach Ezra Hendrickson finds his side dreaming of clinching a Final Series spot this season. Knowing that another win on Saturday night could see them break into the top-seven, the Fire have won each of their last three MLS matchups. Winning those three outings by an aggregate score of 6-1, it should also be noted that Chicago have continued to shine while on home soil. Last seen at Soldier Field picking up a 1-0 victory against Seattle, Hendrickson’s side have won four of their last five matchups in front of their own supporters.

As for the visitors, while Chicago might be enjoying an extended purple patch, the same cannot be said for Atlanta. Last seen getting hit with a sluggish 2-0 loss away at fellow strugglers LA Galaxy, the former MLS champions are battling it out at the foot of the Eastern Conference table. With it looking like their 2-1 victory against Real Salt Lake on July 13th was just a minor boost, that is the only win that Gonzalo Pineda’s men have collected from their last seven domestic showdowns. Likewise, including that 2-0 defeat in California last weekend, it should be highlighted that Atalanta have failed to win any of their previous nine straight contests on the road, a run that stems all the way back to the start of April. Given the recent gulf in class between the two sides, we’re backing a home victory last on Saturday night.
