Competition: MLS
Market: Cincinnati win
Odds: 2/3 @ BetUS
Looking to make an immediate return to winning ways in the early hours of Thursday, Cincinnati will welcome Chicago to the TQL Stadium.
Starting with the hosts, missing out on what they had billed as a golden opportunity last weekend as they fell to a shock 3-1 loss at the hands of Charlotte, Cincinnati are seeking an immediate response here. Nevertheless, still leading the chase at the top of the Eastern Conference standings and pencilled in as a standout contender to defend their crown this season, Pat Noonan’s men have won 12 of their previous 15 appearances. With that run stemming all the way back to April 14th, the Ohio-based outfit will certainly be smelling the chance to lay down another marker here. Springing a major upset earlier in the month as they stormed their way to a remarkable 6-1 romp against Eastern Conference title rivals Inter Miami, the Garys have gained a reputation for their clinical performances in the final third. While Thursday’s hosts might have only mustered a single MLS clean sheet from any of their previous 10 consecutive outings, Cincinnati have recorded 43 goals since opening up the 2024 campaign.
As for the visitors, although Chicago might have opened up July with an action-packed 4-3 victory against Philadelphia, the Fire have drastically struggled with their consistency. Once again battling it out at the foot of the Eastern Conference standings and seeking a minor miracle in the race to book a play-off return this season, Frank Klopas’ men have recorded just a trio of victories from any of their previous 16 consecutive MLS appearances – a run that stems all the way back to April 7th. Forced to settle for a 0-0 stalemate against New York City last weekend, Thursday’s guests have continued to show a string of glaring issues away from Solider Field this season. Last seen on their travels falling to a toothless 1-0 defeat against San Jose, Chicago have lost all of their previous three MLS away fixtures by an aggregate score of 7-3. Likewise, losing back-to-back matchups against Cincinnati, we are expecting a similar outcome from the TQL Stadium in midweek.
