Competition: Belgian Pro League
Market: Both teams to score
Odds: 7/10 @ Pribet
In what could prove to be an enjoyable affair from the Jan Breydel Stadium on Wednesday night, Club Brugge will host Genk.
Starting with the hosts, while Club Brugge might have been disappointed last season as they had to settle for a fourth-place finish among Belgium’s elite, Nicky Hayen’s men have made plenty of improvements this time around. Last seen over the weekend putting in another hugely impressive performance as they secured a 2-1 victory away at Royale Union, the mood in their camp should be at a red-hot high. Extending on their Europa Conference League adventure last week and punching their semi-final ticket after securing a 3-0 aggregate romp against Greek outfit PAOK, Wednesday’s hosts are in the midst of a real purple patch. Including a 3-0 victory against Antwerp earlier in the month, Club Brugge have mow won their previous five appearances across all competitions. Likewise, aside from a 2-1 loss at the hands of St. Truiden prior to March’s international break, Hayen’s side are unbeaten in all of their other eight showdowns.
As for the visitors, while Genk might have opened the New Year tipped as an outside contender in this season’s European chase, Wouter Vrancken’s men are enjoying their own recent flurry. Last seen over the weekend picking up an eye-catching 2-1 win at home against Anderlecht, Racing have collected 10 points from their previous four Pro League appearances and they have continued to skyrocket their way up the standings. It should also be noted, the former Mechelen boss has seen his squad suffer just a single defeat from any of their previous 10 consecutive appearances against top-flight opposition – a run that stems back to February 3rd. Despite facing what should be a real stern challenge when they travel to Club Brugge on Wednesday night, they will be excited by their recent success at the Jan Breydel Stadium. Including a stellar 3-1 romp last season, they have collected four points from their back-to-back trips to the title contenders.
