Competition: MLS
Market: Colorado Rapids win
Odds: 4/6 @ Pribet
Looking to make an immediate return to winning ways in the early hours of Friday, Colorado will welcome Sporting KC to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
Starting with the hosts, left frustrated last weekend as they eventually slumped to a routine 3-0 drumming away at Los Angeles, the Rapids will be seeking an immediate response here. Nevertheless, still mustering nine points from their previous four MLS appearances, Chris Armas’ men are still battling it out at the top of the Western Conference table. Appearing to cruise their way to a play-off ticket and making a string of improvements since opening up the 2024 campaign, the former New York Red Bulls boss will be smelling a golden opportunity here. Pencilled in as a standout contender this weekend, Colorado will also be excited by their continued success on home soil. Last seen at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park claiming a thumping 4-1 victory against Montreal, Friday’s hosts have registered 10 points from just their previous four MLS showdowns in front of their own supporters. Springing an upset last month as they secured an eye-catching 2-0 win against Austin, Armas’ side will be smelling the chance to claim an immediate response here.
As for the visitors, making a much-welcomed return to winning ways last weekend as they clinched a gritty 2-0 win at home against Austin, Sporting KC will be desperate to use that performance as a platform to build on. However, still battling it out at the foot of the Western Conference, the Wizards are seeking a miracle in their bid to claim a play-off ticket this season. Losing 10 of their previous 12 MLS appearances – a rut that stems all the way back to a 3-3 stalemate against St. Louis on April 21st – Peter Vermes’ men have come under increasing scrutiny. Opening up Friday’s showdown sat 11 points adrift of finding a route into the play-off places, Sporting KC have also continued to gain a reputation for their glaring struggles on the road. Last seen on their travels falling to a woeful 4-0 drumming at the hands of Columbus, the Wizards have lost all of their previous seven consecutive MLS appearances away from Children’s Mercy Park.
