Competition: Irish Premier Division
Market: Both teams to score – No
Odds: 10/11 @ Pribet
Looking to spring another upset at Turners Cross on Monday night, a high-flying Cork City will welcome Bohemians to town for what could be a cagey affair.
Starting with the hosts, while Cork might have marked their Premier Division return in the midst of a real struggle, interim boss Liam Buckley has seen his squad come roaring back in some style. Last seen over the weekend putting in another gritty display as they secured a 1-0 victory away at Drogheda, the Rebel Army have turned a real corner over the past few weeks. In fact, on a run that is highlighted by a 1-0 win against Irish heavyweights Shamrock Rovers on May 16th, the Greens have now won each of their last three top-flight appearances. Likewise, showing plenty of improvements at the back and keeping three Premier Division clean sheets on the bounce, Monday’s hosts have also not picked the ball out of their own net in over 270 minutes of action. It should also be highlighted, Cork have recorded back-to-back clean sheets at Turners Cross for the first time this season.
As for the visitors, making what was a welcomed return to winning ways last weekend, Bohemians do have the feel of a squad seeking some recent stability. Last seen picking up a 2-0 victory at home against Sligo Rovers, that result drew a line under the Bohs’ four-match winless run. However, still leading the top-three chase, Declan Devine’s side should be excited by their continued success on the road. On a run that stems all the way back to Mach 3rd, the Dublin-based outfit have lost just one of their last eight contests away from Delymount Park. Although the Bohs might meet a Cork side that are certainly riding a recent wave of momentum, Devine’s men should also be excited by their most recent meeting against Monday’s hosts. Claiming a stellar 5-0 romp when the two sides last met at Dalymount Park on May 1st, the ex-Derry boss will be seeking a repeat performance here. However, it should be noted, with just one of the previous nine meetings between Monday’s opponents finishing with both teams getting on the scoresheet, we are backing a similar outcome here.
