Bitesize Prediction: Coventry vs Wigan – 08/11/22

Competition: Championship

Market: Coventry win

Odds: 21/20 @ 888sport

Looking to extend on what has been a real Championship purple patch on Tuesday night, Coventry will host Wigan.

Starting with the hosts, while Coventry might still be dealing with some rather public issues behind the scenes, Mark Robins’ side are enjoying an eye-catching run of form. Last seen over the weekend laying down a real marker as they picked up a stellar 1-0 victory away at promotion contenders Watford, the Blues have now lost just one of their previous seven Championship contests. With that impressive purple patch stemming back to October 8th, the former Huddersfield boss should find the mood in his camp at a high. Along with landing another 1-0 win at home against Blackburn earlier in the month, Coventry sit within striking distance of breaking into the top-half. Likewise, recording a clean sheet in five of their last seven Championship contests and continuing to show some real defensive resolve, there is no doubt that Robins’ side should be looking to extend on their recent flurry here.

As for the visitors, while Wigan might have managed to snatch a point away at Swansea over the weekend, it doesn’t cover what has been a worrying run for the Latics. Although Leam Richardson’s side might have secured a Championship return last season, it appears that they could be at the heart of a real relegation scrap this time around. Along with collecting just a single second-tier victory from any of their last nine second-tier contests, Wigan have also taken just one point from their previous six appearances. Showing some extended issues at the back and opening the midweek fixtures battling it out in the drop zone, Richardson’s men could face a tough test on Tuesday night. It should also be highlighted, the Latics have hit with a 2-0 loss the last time they made the trip to Coventry back in 2015, we’re backing a similar outcome here.
