Competition: League One
Market: Birmingham win
Odds: 2/5 @ 1xBet
Two sides who find themselves scrapping it out at opposite ends of the League One table, Birmingham will travel to Crawley on Monday night.
Starting with the hosts, while Crawley might have opened December with a shock 2-1 victory away at Charlton, the Red Devils came crashing back down to earth last time out. Eventually falling to an action-packed 4-3 loss at the hands of Peterborough, Rob Elliot’s men find themselves at the heart of a League One relegation scrap. Crashing out of the FA Cup on November 30th following another sensational 4-3 defeat at home against Lincoln, the Reds have claimed just a pair of wins from any of their previous eight appearances across all competitions. Shipping nine goals in their last three outings, the Susses-based outfit have also drastically struggled to find any kind of stability on home soil. Despite snatching a 2-2 stalemate against Huddersfield last month, Crawley have won just two of their previous 10 matchups in front of their own supporters. Including a 5-3 defeat against Shrewsbury on October 12th, Elliot’s side have also conceded at least a pair of goals in six of their last eight matchups in Sussex.
As for the visitors, while Birmingham might have lost their Championship status last season, it is no secret that Chris Davies’ men are pencilled in as a leading promotion contender this time around. Last seen claiming a routine 2-0 win at home against Bristol Rovers, the Blues have now won each of their previous six straight appearances across all competitions. Extending on their FA Cup adventure earlier in the month as they landed a 2-1 victory away at Blackpool, Monday’s guests should be smelling a potential opportunity here. In fact, aside from a lively 3-2 loss at the hands of Shrewsbury last month, that is the only defeat that Birmingham have suffered from any of their previous 14 outings – a run that stems all the way back to October 5th. Likewise, notching 34 League One strikes so far this season, Birmingham also hold the second-best attacking return. Claiming a thumping 5-1 win when they met Crawley for their only historic showdown back in 2017, Davies will be hoping for a similar outcome.
