Looking to make an immediate return to winning ways on Saturday afternoon, Crystal Palace will welcome Luton to Selhurst Park.
Starting with the hosts, suffering what was a late collapse away at Tottenham last weekend, Crystal Palace will be seeking an immediate response here. Eventually falling to a 3-1 loss in north London, there is no doubt that the Eagles will be excited to make a return to Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon. Opening Oliver Glasner’s tenure in charge with a routine 3-0 romp against relegation scrappers Burnley on February 24th, they have suffered just a single defeat from any of their previous six showdowns in front of their own supporters. With that flurry underlined by a 3-1 romp against Brentford back in December, the former Eintracht Frankfurt boss could be smelling a potential opportunity here. However, opening February with an infamous 4-1 loss against bitter rivals Brighton, Crystal Palace have shown some extended defensive issues. In fact, Glasner’s new squad have recorded just a single clean sheet in any of their previous eight outings. It should also be noted, Saturday’s hosts have seen four of their last five appearances finish with both teams finding the net.
As for the visitors, suffering last-gasp heartbreak against Aston Villa last weekend as they eventually fell to an action-packed 3-2 loss, Luton find themselves at the heart of a real struggle. While Rob Edwards’ men might have gained plenty of plaudits since making their famous Premier League return this season, the Hatters have lost all of their previous five meetings against top-flight opposition. Crashing out of the FA Cup on February 27th following a 6-2 drumming at the hands of Manchester City, the former Watford boss will have a major headache over his side’s glaring issues at the back. Including a 4-1 defeat against Liverpool last month, Luton have remarkably lost all of their previous five outings by an aggregate score of 18-7. With their recent nightmare blip underlined by a 3-1 loss at home against Sheffield United on February 10th, neutrals could be treated to a lively affair this weekend. It is worth noting, with Luton seeing nine of their last 10 appearances across all competitions finish with both teams finding the net, we are expecting a similar outcome here.
