Bitesize Prediction: Crystal Palace vs Watford – 07/05/22

Competition: Premier League

Market: Crystal Palace win

Odds: 4/6 @ 888sport

Knowing that their relegation to the Championship could be confirmed this weekend, Watford will make the trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, managing to make a welcomed return to winning ways last weekend with a last-gasp 2-1 victory away at Southampton, Crystal Palace have continued to impress many across the Premier League this season. Really appearing to have found their feet under Head Coach Patrick Vieira, the Eagles now have their sights firmly set on clinching a top-half finish. Looking like they have drawn a line under their three-match losing run from last month, the former Arsenal skipper should also be boosted by his side’s continued success on home soil. On a run that is highlighted by a 3-0 romp against the Gunners, it should be highlighted that Palace are unbeaten in their last six straight contests at Selhurst Park. With that run stemming all the way back to February 19th, Vieira’s side should be smelling a golden chance here.

As for the visitors, throwing away the lead in a woeful fashion last weekend as they were eventually hit with a 2-1 defeat at home against Burnley, Watford are freefalling their way back down to the Championship. With their fate set to be confirmed at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon, Roy Hodgson has really failed to offer them any kind of a boost. Losing each of their last five Premier League contests, a run highlighted by a 3-0 drumming against Leeds last month, Watford will be more than aware that they face a huge task in south London here. Likewise, it should also be noted, the one-time England boss has seen his side muster just a trio of points since the end of February. Given the huge recent gulf in class between the two sides, it is hard to see anything other than a home victory for Palace.
