Competition: Irish Premier Division

Market: Over 1.5 goals

Odds: 4/11 @ 888sport

In a real showdown at the top of Ireland’s Premier Division this weekend, Dundalk will welcome Derry City to Oriel Park on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, last seen extending on their FAI Cup run thanks to a 4-0 romp against First Division outfit Longford, Dundalk are enjoying an eye-catching run of form. Despite getting hit with a shock loss away at Drogheda last month, the Lilywhites have managed to prove that was just a minor blip. Hoping to try and make up some ground on runaway leaders Shamrock Rovers, Head Coach Stephen O’Donnell has seen his side lose just one of their previous 15 matchups across all formats. With that stellar run of form stemming all the way back to April 18th, Dundalk have also found a clinical edge in the final third. Along with now racking up seven goals in their back-to-back domestic victories, it should also be highlighted that the Whites have won each of their previous 11 straight showdowns at Oriel Park.

As for the visitors, also extending on their own FAI Cup adventure thanks to a thumping 7-0 win away at lower-league Oliver Bond, Derry City have continued to gain plenty of plaudits this season. Likewise, last seen on Premier Division duties bagging a 2-1 win away at the Finn Harps, Ruaidhrí Higgins’ men are leading the European chase. Making the trip to Oriel Park on Friday night holding a commanding seven-point buffer from slipping out of the top-three, the Candystripes will find the mood in their camp at a real high. Although Derry might make the trip to Dundalk tipped as a real underdog, Friday’s opponents do have a habit of producing lively affairs. It should be highlighted, with six of their previous seven meetings finishing with over 1.5 goals, we’re backing a similar outcome here.

Bet: Over 1.5 goals at Dundalk vs Derry City 4/11 for Friday’s Irish Premier Division contest @ 888sport
